CONVENTIONS USED
Opening Credits
The first thing we did after editing each and every clip together was the opening credits. These are one of the most important features within a film and I knew this due to research I did. Learning about this was very important as it allowed to me to understand why they are important and the order. The order was important to know as we wanted them to be right and not half right or half wrong as we wanted our opening title sequence to look as professional as it could. We researched credits off of Wikipedia mostly but also watched other successful coming-of-age films and looked at what order they put their credits in. The order we did was producer, editor, director, sound, screenplay, costume design, camera work and the actors who are in our film. When ordering the actors' names, we decided to put the main protagonist first which in our case was Lily Redman and then followed by Jack Moore. We did this because Lily is the most important in our opening title sequence as she is shown the most.
Film Distributor and Producer
When making our film, we knew that to make it more professional, we must put a production and distributor team at the beginning, before any of our film is shown. We researched these to see which ones were most popular and used when making coming-of-age films. The one we showed before anything was 'Liongate'. We decided to use this one as it made many big films such as 'Saw' and 'The Hunger Games'. We thought that if we used a company like Lionsgate before our film, it would make it more appealing and popular as many films are made by it.
After showing this, we added in 'Rogue Pictures' as this again is another film distributor which has made many successful films such as 'Seed of Chucky' in 2004 and 'Limitless' in 2011.
Characters/Actors
In my opening title sequence we have used two teenagers as our main characters. This is the case in many coming-of-age films as the target audience most of the time are people of the same age. By doing this, the audience would be more likely to relate to storyline and therefore enjoy it more. We also dressed Lily and Jack in just plain outfits (top and jeans) as this is what teenagers are most likely to wear.
